Ingredients:
- 1 handful of fresh mint leaves
- 1 inch of fresh ginger shredded
- 1 lemon, sliced (make sure it’s unwaxed and organic!)
- 1 cup frozen mixed berries (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, etc.)
- 1-2 tablespoons honey or agave syrup (optional, for sweetness)
- 4 cups cold water (you can substitute with a good quality sparkling water or kombucha for that extra feeling of luxury)
- Ice cubes (optional as the berries will cool down the drink too)
Method
- Prepare the Ingredients:
- Rinse the fresh mint leaves thoroughly.
- Wash the lemon and slice it into thin rounds.
- Measure out one cup of frozen mixed berries.
- Shred the ginger
- Infuse the Water:
- In a large pitcher, add the fresh mint leaves and ginger. Gently mix and muddle the mint and ginger with a wooden spoon to release their natural oils and flavour.
- Add the lemon slices and frozen berries to the pitcher.
- Sweeten (Optional):
- If you prefer a sweeter drink, add 1-2 tablespoons of raw honey. Stir well until it dissolves.
- Add Water:
- Pour 4 cups of cold water into the pitcher. Stir the mixture gently to combine all the ingredients.
- Chill and Serve:
- Let the drink sit in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to allow the flavours to blend together.
- When ready to serve, add ice cubes to individual glasses and pour the infused water over the ice.
- Garnish with additional mint leaves or a lemon slice if desired.
- Enjoy:
- Serve immediately and enjoy the refreshing, gut-healthy summer drink!
