Why Your ‘Healthy’ Habits Aren’t Working For You in Midlife

Why Doing “All the Right Things” Still Isn’t Working for You

I hear it all the time from ‘midlife’ women who come to me:

“I’ve read the books, listened to the podcasts, tried the diets, joined the gym, cut out sugar, started yoga… and yet I’m still not feeling better.

I’m still gaining weight, my moods are all over the place, my hot flushes are unbearable, and my energy is on the floor. What am I missing?”

Does that sound familiar?

Nope, you’re not alone.

Many of the women I work with are doing a lot already. They’re not lazy. They’re not ignorant. They’re not failing.

In fact, they’re often working harder on their health than anyone else around them. And yet, the results don’t match the effort.

Instead, they’re left with:

  • Extra weight creeping on, no matter how “good” they are
  • Mood swings or anxiety that hit out of nowhere
  • Stubborn menopausal symptoms like night sweats or hot flushes
  • Persistent inflammation or pain that limits how much they can enjoy life
  • Imbalances in their thyroid, blood sugar, or digestion that don’t shift despite changes in diet and exercise

It’s frustrating. It’s disheartening. And it can make you question your own body: “What’s wrong with me?”

But here’s the truth I want you to hear loud and clear: It’s not you that’s the problem. It’s the approach.

Why “One-Size-Fits-All” Doesn’t Work

We live in a world that loves formulas. Quick fixes. Blueprints. The “Do these 5 things and everything will fall into place” approach.

And while that makes for a great book title or podcast episode, it simply doesn’t reflect real life,  especially for women 40+.

Why? Because your health is shaped by so much more than just what you eat or how much you move. It’s affected by:

  • Your unique hormonal shifts in peri menopause or menopause
  • Your personal history (stress, illness, past diets, pregnancies)
  • Your current circumstances (workload, family life, grief, relationships)
  • Your mindset and beliefs around food, body, and self-worth: read here how your hormones and stress are interlinked.
  • Even your daily environment and how much rest or joy you actually get

No podcast or Google search knows all of that about you.

So when you’re piecing together “tips” from here and there, it’s like trying to complete a jigsaw puzzle with pieces from different boxes.

They don’t fit together. And that’s why you feel like you’re working so hard but not getting the change you long for.

The Power of a Personalised Approach

This is exactly why I created my 1–2–1 programmes.  First of all, because these are tailor-made, I call them ‘Journeys’.

They’re not cookie-cutter. I don’t hand you a list of rules and expect you to follow them perfectly.

It’s a collaboration. A strategy designed around you: your body, your symptoms, your mindset, your lifestyle.

Instead of process-led, they’re client-led. Which means:

  • We start from where you are, not from a generic template.
  • We take into account your unique health challenges and personal circumstances.
  • We build changes that are realistic and sustainable for you, not overwhelming or rigid.
  • You get support and accountability tailored to your pace and your needs.

That’s why some of my clients work with me for 3 months, others for 6, and some for a full 12 months. Because no two journeys look alike.

Which Journey Fits You Best?

Here’s how I structure my approach:

The 3-Month Reset Journey

This is perfect if you already have a solid foundation of healthy habits but are stuck on a few stubborn symptoms or imbalances. Maybe your digestion is flaring up, or your energy is dipping, or you can’t quite crack the hormonal weight gain puzzle.

Three months gives us the focus and momentum to troubleshoot, reset, and give you practical tools that work for your body.

Best for: Women who are already “doing a lot right” but need fine-tuning, expert insight, and accountability to finally see results.

The 6-Month Renew Journey

Life isn’t just about the body,  it’s about what’s happening around you, too. Many of my clients in this programme are facing multiple issues at once: menopausal changes, thyroid shifts, digestive problems, plus the emotional weight of big life transitions like grief, divorce, or empty-nest syndrome.

Six months allows us to untangle those layers gently and give you space to integrate new habits while I walk alongside you and keep you accountable.

Best for: Women dealing with both physical symptoms and emotional stressors, who need consistent support and gradual progress.

The 12-Month Thrive Journey

This is for women who want a complete reset across multiple areas of their life. Not just to “get through menopause,” but to emerge with a whole new way of living that feels sustainable and empowering.

With a full year, we can work deeply on everything from nutrition to mindset, from energy to resilience. You’ll have me as your guide, cheerleader, and accountability partner, ensuring that the changes you make aren’t just temporary fixes but lasting transformations.

Best for: Women who want comprehensive, long-term support and the confidence that they won’t slip back into old patterns once the journey together ends.

Why 1–2–1 Beats Books and Podcasts

Don’t get me wrong. I love that there’s so much information available these days. Knowledge is powerful. But here’s the problem:

  • Books and podcasts don’t know your body. They can’t tell if your hot flushes are linked to blood sugar swings or stress.
  • Generic advice can confuse you. One book says go plant-based, another says eat more protein, another says cut carbs… which do you follow?
  • Information isn’t transformation. Knowing what to do isn’t the same as actually making it work in your life.

Working 1–2–1 means:

  • You don’t waste months trying random tips that don’t fit your situation.
  • You have someone to cut through the noise and guide you to what matters most.
  • You’re not doing it alone:  you have support, encouragement, and accountability.

And most importantly, the plan is built around you, not around what worked for somebody else.

Imagine the Difference

Picture yourself six months from now. Instead of feeling frustrated that your hard work isn’t paying off, you’re seeing progress that feels real:

  • Your energy is steady throughout the day.
  • Your mood is calmer, more balanced.
  • Your digestion feels settled.
  • You’re sleeping better.
  • Your body feels lighter, stronger, more resilient.
  • You finally feel like you again.

That’s what’s possible when you stop trying to force yourself into a one-size-fits-all box and instead choose a path designed around you.

Final Thoughts

If you’ve been doing “all the right things” and still not getting results, it’s not your fault. It’s a sign that you don’t need more information, you need the right guidance, the right support, and a strategy tailored to your unique body and life.

That’s what my 1–2–1 journeys are here for. Whether 3 months, 6 months, or a full year, we’ll find the right fit for you, so you can finally feel better and wake with a spring in your step, every day.
